Gift Guide for Mom - 3 Top Gift Ideas and Stores for Women: Gifts for Mother's Day and More

Do you need some last minute gift ideas for Mom or the other women in your life? Well, as a woman, I’m here to tell you about some things that I like as gifts--for a birthday or any holiday. One of my favorite places to shop for practical, comfortable, and even unique items is Kohl’s Department store. I have received a number of gifts from Kohl’s, as well as splurged on some things there myself. Here are "a few of my favorite things" (as the song goes). Even if you don't shop at Kohl's, these gift ideas are ones that are sure to please most women. At least they please me!

I would bet that nearly all women like jewelry of some sort. Most of my gifts of jewelry have come from Kohl's with some from JCPenney, as well. As far as selection goes, I have seen the large selection at Kohl’s firsthand. My boyfriend has discovered that, having bought me several watches, necklaces, and earrings from Kohl’s, I especially like their silver jewelry. I love the glow of sterling silver or stainless steel jewelry, and I love how it lasts. Some of the pieces I’ve gotten from Kohl’s are quite dainty and elegant, while other items are more trendy and fun. The Mudd products come to mind as they are often unique.

Prices of jewelry at Kohl’s are reasonable, and, of course, there are always sales. That’s what I like about shopping at Kohl’s. You can get all dolled up with your favorite jewelry, without it costing a fortune. Often, Kohl's offers 25 to 35% on watches, plus 60% off certain jewelry, including my favorite silver jewelry. I should always let my boyfriend know about the deals that come up on a continual basis at Kohl's. He has picked out some great stuff from Kohl's thus far, though, so maybe he doesn't need any help!

As we all get older, we value being comfortable more and more. Kohl’s has a lot of items that fit this category. This store is a great place to find comfy, stylish houseshoes. I’ve had several pairs from there over the years, and I’ve loved them all. I prefer slip-on houseshoes (slip-on sippers--that's a novel idea!). I wore out my first pair my boyfriend bought me from Kohl's and was glad to receive another pair the following year. The pair shown are not slip-ons, but they're excellent for really cold weather when I just want to settle in and not take them off.

I’ve yet to try a foot massager or a robe, but I have sure eyed them. Of course, Kohl’s carries beauty products, too, from lotions to facial creams—anything a woman could need, really.

Kohl’s is a great home store, as you can find what you need for every room in the house. You can add comfort and color to the living room or bedroom with pillows and throws. Those throws are always on sale, often up to 60% off. I know, because my boyfriend has bought a couchful of them! You can find oh-so-soft bed sheets at great prices, too. You may not want to purchase that special woman in your life something for the bathroom, but, if you do, Kohl’s has it!

For the lady who likes to cook, Kohl’s is the place. They have tons of cool kitchen dishware and appliances. From bright to elegant, their dishware collection is incredible. They have unique and interesting items. Some time ago, I found a neat line of catware—for lack of a better name—on sale. I purchased a cat cookie jar, trivet, and salt and pepper shakers. They were all marked down, too!

For my last birthday, I received a three crock pot slow cooker, with which I am absolutely thrilled. Kohl's has so many kitchen gadgets that I would love to have. Their old-fashioned waffle iron reminds me of the one my mom had when I was a kid. I love looking at their kitchen stuff!

Kohl’s isn’t the only place to shop, of course, for great items for gifts for women. Other stores such as JC Penney and Macy’s also have an assortment of items that any woman would be glad to have. Amazon is also an excellent source for various items—music, electronics, books, and craft supplies. All of these stores offer great online deals. Wherever you decide to shop, jewelry, home items, and personal comfort items are nearly always gift items that women will enjoy.
