Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Adults can have fun on St. Patrick's Day, too. It's not all about the kids having fun. Adults can wear green, and adults can pinch each other just like kids do to the offender who does not wear green.

If your green isn't obvious on the outside, you can even use the age-old excuse, "I have green underwear!" Most folks don't ask for you to prove that, although there will be some who do. I am sure of that.

One thing we can skip out on as adults are all the silly (sometimes fun) little crafts that kids get a kick out of making on St. Patrick's day. We don't have to color green shamrocks (unless we want to) or have a three-leaf clover hunt (unless we've had a few drinks) to have a good time with our friends.

No, my dear adult friends, we can keep things simple and have a rocking green time on St. Patrick's Day, whether we spend it at work or somewhere else.

Wear a St. Patrick's Day shirt!

K.I.S.S . . . . No, I'm not saying to "Keep it simple, stupid," but how about a "Keep it simple shirt!" A green one, to be sure. This is easy. Be as subtle as you want with your work clothes, if you need to be, with at least just a touch of green. Or go all out! If you can, get a fun outrageous green T-shirt, especially if you're going out for the evening. Tone it down for work if you need to. You can purchase a shirt or make your own design on a cheap store-bought green shirt. Let your imagination take control. That's your craft assignment for the holiday.

Wear Green St. Patrick's Day Jewelry!

If you don't want or have green clothing to wear on St. Patrick's Day, then opt for some green jewelry. I have some plastic shamrock earrings and a long necklace with a green three-leaf clover on the end of it. Jewelry can be a more subtle way to wear green, or you can go all out and pair it with your obnoxious (or otherwise) green attire.

Go For Green Hair!

Whaaaaat? Did you say to "paint your hair green"? Yeah, well, why not? It's only for a day. Green hair doesn't have to be forever. Get that temporary spray that you can wash out. Wear your green "do" to work if you want. Or don't. It will certainly be a lot of fun if you go out for the evening!

Drink Something Green

Well, hopefully by now, you've picked out your green attire. You have picked out that outrageous green T-shirt and the fun earrings or other jewelry, right? Maybe you are even considering the green hair. Okay, or maybe not. Some of you will. (You know who you are!)

So you're ready to go. A fun activity on St. Patrick's Day is to go out for a drink, particularly a green beer. Many bars and restaurants serve green beer just for the St. Patrick's Day holiday.

Hey, it's an excuse to go out. If you're like me, you may NEED to get out more. If you're not into beer, head to McDonald's. Most years, they have their famous (or infamous?) Shamrock shake. Green and minty. Mmmmmmm . . . .

Have a Green Themed Party

Since you have picked out your greenery for attire and are considering (yeah, I know you are!) spraying your hair green for a day, why not go all out and have a green theme party? Not up to it? Get some friends to help.

You can get decorations--shamrock cut-outs, green streamers, for example--pretty cheap. Check out these St. Patrick's Day party supplies that are fun and affordable. You can even find ideas for games and party favors.

Make some green foods, too! You can cut up green veggies, such as cucumbers, broccoli, celery, and green bell peppers. You can open up jars of pickles and green olives. Have homemade guacamole and other green dips. You might even find green chips for the occasion. There's green gelatin with kiwi. Want something warm and baked? How about baked zucchini? Oh, the possibilities. And, yes, you can even make your own green beer. Check out these green appetizer recipes here.

Beginner Irish Dance

Dance a Jig!

Again, whaaaaaat? Did you say "dance a jig"? Yeah! Well, why not? If you want to have fun, do something different. It's a lively Irish dance, so have some fun with it. If you're having that green party (No, we're not getting political, here), get your friends to join you in trying to learn some steps.

Or learn it all by yourself to impress your significant other. Whatever you do, have fun with it!
