Have you ever bought "As Seen on TV" products?
How many of those “As Seen on TV” items have you ever bought? The commercials for them always catch my attention, but I don’t remember having ever purchased any of the items. Why not? I’m not sure, except that maybe many of the items are novelties, things we don’t necessarily use or need in everyday life. Perhaps the idea of them wears off after they are no longer in sight. Maybe the novelty of them makes them better gift items as many of the items advertised are items that you just might not spend the money on for yourself. Here are my top ten gift ideas from “As Seen on TV” products.
1. Obama Chia Pet
Yes, you heard me right. There's a Chia of the President of the United States! This is a Chia bust of President Barack Obama’s head. The Chia is entitled “Determined Pose” and has the President's famous, “Yes, we can” statement imprinted on the side of the bust.How fun would it be to water and watch President Obama grow right in front of you? I don’t care what side of the political fence you’re on; this is an interesting item and a unique gift. It would be a hoot to give it as a gift to both your Democrat and Republican friends!
2. Must have Pajama Jeans!
The jury is still debating on whether or not pajama jeans are proper attire in public. Well, at least, I have heard people discussing that very issue. Has anyone out there tried these? These pajama jeans look so comfy, despite any conversation to the contrary, that I’ve been tempted to try them. And if you're not into them for yourself, this might be another great gift item for someone. While a person might not want to spend the money to try out these interesting “jeans,” putting them on because the pants were a gift might be something fun to try.
3. Ever tried a Ped Egg?
I see the PedEgg everywhere, and I’ve heard that it works really well to soften rough feet. Is this item too personal to give as a gift? I think, in this day and age, that nothing is too personal.
Yeah, yeah. Some people are self-conscious about their feet, so make sure you know the person really well before offering up the PedEgg as a birthday present. I'll bet, however, once anyone gets this product behind closed doors, they'll be glad to have it.
Update: I have actually tried this, and yeah, it's pretty cool. Sometimes I'm too lazy to use it, but when I do, yeah, it feels good.
4. Pillow Pets are a Great Gift for Children
I’m sure that every parent of young children has heard of Pillow Pets. Pillow Pets are big, soft stuffed animals that double as pillows. You can choose from animals such as the Comfy Panda, the Perky Penguin, and the Squeaky Dolphin. Those are the types of animals I've heard about, anyway. They sound pretty darn comfortable.
I wonder if the pillow pet comes in cat form, though. That I could identify with.A cat pillow or a dog pillow are the most familiar to children. Or maybe even a hamster. Well, even between the panda, penguin, and dolphin choices, I don’t think there would be any argument about the pillow pet being a great gift for kids.
5. What are Wuggle Pets?
Have you heard of Wuggle pets? Well, I haven't either. Well, until now. So I'm trying to educate myself. It might not be anything most of us have heard of as a child. But now . . . .
Children these days seem to love these guys, and they can bring this pet totally to life, as they put together what comes in a kit, down to the stuffing. Reminiscent of the Cabbage Patch of previous years, this toy comes with a birth certificate. Kids can create the pet and name the pet. And wow, it even comes with a birthmark!
6. Clapper plus Remote Control
Has anyone ever had a clapper? For a lamp? A TV? Some form of the clapper has been around forever, it seems. This little gem can be hooked up to turn on and off lights, even appliances. You can even turn on the lights from the sidewalk so that you don’t have to walk into a dark house. Hmmm . . . I wonder if the clapper could find my car keys! Now that would be quite an invention!
7. Get your own Ove Glove!
No, that is not a typo. The “n” in “oven” is left off of “ove.” This glove is five-fingered, which makes it easier to use than traditional oven mitts. Plus, it is flame-retardant and can withstand temperatures up to 540 degrees!
For a klutz like me who has a tendency to cut and burn herself when cooking, this would be a great gift.

This handy kitchen tool features a basket that serves as a cooking basket, a colander, and a steamer. In looking at it, though, I haven’t quite figured out what the TWELVE functions are.
Still, this might be a fun gift to try to figure out for the person who likes to experiment in the kitchen. As someone who likes to cook a lot, I'll take this gift any day.

Okay, okay, so this item was also number one. I just thought it was worth mentioning twice because it is unique. “As Seen on TV” Chias also come as cat grass Chias, herb garden Chias, and even a Statue of Liberty Chia. None, though, are as cool as the Chia Obama. Okay, maybe the Duck Dynasty Chia now in circulation.
As Seen on TV gifts are always unique. And so much fun as Christmas gifts for all the family to gawk and laugh at when they see them. Aw, maybe it’s time to buy that Obama Chia!
