No Panty Lines? How?
What's Wrong with Having Panty Lines?
Women wear panties. At least, they do much of the time. Does the world want women to wear panties or not? Don’t answer that. I guess it depends on who you are. And the situation. Let’s face it. There are some skirts or pants that will show panty lines. You know the material—that slinky, clingy (even if not tight) material that just makes those lines shine. So, I ask you, what’s a girl to do?
Panty lines or not?
Those Pesky Panty Lines
I’ll admit it. Up until a certain age, I was a victim of society’s “You’ve got panty lines” guilt. I brainstormed on how to stop those horrendous tell-tale signs of panty-wearing. I tried different clothing, different panties….
Again, what’s a girl to do? I fought trying the thong panty for a while. For years I just knew that nice girls didn’t wear thongs! That archaic notion eventually turned into the “The thong’s not professional” premise. Ha! Well, then leave it off the resume! No need to show your boss your underwear! (No comments, please….)
So What Do You Do About Panty Lines?
Okay, so now with all the excuses shot down in my early to mid-thirties, I decided to buy the panty-line free thong as a new, liberated, hopefully panty-line free woman. The results? I had a permanent wedgie--both embarrassing and uncomfortable--ALL DAY LONG! Perhaps there are women who can handle that feeling, or maybe I bought the wrong kind, but, for me, the thong, as for other women I know, was not the answer to this age-old dilemma of panty lines. I guess I could wear pantyhose without panties. But in 100 degree weather? No, thank you. I had to make a decision which didn’t involve going bare under a skirt.

If You Must Try to Hide Your Panty Lines....
Accept Your Panty Lines!
Sisters, I embraced my panty lines. It took years! But I finally broke through society’s expectations as well as my own self-consciousness, deciding that, if I had panty lines, then so be it! I mean, if someone were to notice my no panty lines look, then what would a person think? That either I’m wearing no panties at all or I’m wearing a thong? I wasn’t comfortable with either (physically in both cases).
A few years down the road, I did make quite a find with some panties advertised as panty line-less. How is that? They had thin material and a lack of hem that made them smooth. The panty line was minimized. What a find—the best of both worlds! But now I don’t remember what kind they were. Hanes, I think. You might look for some of those.
Why, I ask, is having panty lines even an issue? With panty lines, at least people know that you are wearing underwear. Is that so wrong? Otherwise, does the mind wonder? Or wander, even? Who knows? I say to heck with society's fashion expectations and any subsequent judgments on your derriere. Be free with or without your panty lines! You're a grown-up. Go with what makes you more comfortable.

LOL! This is awesome... I will admit that I'm still of the mindset that panty lines are a big no no.
Also, I was going to add, you can prevent the "wedgie" feeling with certain types of thongs. Try to stick with just cotton or silk, no lace. Also, the ones with really thick seams will feel very uncomfortable.
Anyways, great hub!
Well, LesleySherwood, some of my comments have some sarcasm in them, that's for sure. While I don't like huge obvious panty lines, I don't think they're a big deal, either. Yeah, maybe loose clothing is the answer for all of us. haha. Thanks for the comments!
Daniella--Yeah, the ones I tried had these really thick seams, which defeated the purpose, as the panty lines were just moved up higher. haha. Maybe I'll try some again. Or, if not, so be it with the panty lines. haha. It was a fun hub to write, anyway. Glad it make you laugh. :-)
I always have panty lines and I am proud of it! I don't have a problem showing off my ability to wear underwear, nor should anyone else. I figure, people can tell I am wearing a bra, so who cares is they know I am wearing panties? As a matter of fact, it seems to be in style to wear your bra in such a way so the world can see your bra straps now. So yes, embrace the "definitely wearing underwear" look!
Fun hub! Voted up and awesome!
ok i am the only guy answering this but yes . panty lines = not sexy . My aunt bought me and my brother a thong as a joke for our birthday. It was the very think kind, so i am glad i did not wear it LOL. I don't know why but thongs are sexy ( on a guys perspective). When I see a women with out panty lines I dont automatically think thong , but when i see a women with panty lines i think to my self WHY ? I guess it's a guy thing or maybe just me
Jeannie--It was a fun hub to write! And you're right about people showing their bra straps. So why not panty lines. You're so funny. Haven't read your hubs lately. I need to saunter on over there. Great to see you. Thanks for commenting!
Hey,Frank! I appreciate a guy commenting! Sometimes panty lines are difficult to avoid, just an FYI.I appreciate your perspective. I'll just say to each his or her own! I don't really think it's a big deal either way, but it's kind of fun to discuss! I'm glad you joined the conversation! :-)
..I must say this title certainly caught my eye although truth be told a woman's panty line has NEVER caught my eyes because as a gentleman I just DON'T go there - lol - that said - I had panty line problem once - women at work thought I was wearing a speedo and they started harrassing me with the nickname SPEEDO GONZALES - it soon stopped and I went back to wearing my boxer shorts - and I got my normal voice back too!!!!
lake erie time 6:41pm
Epi--If there were more gentlemen like yourself, then panty lines would be a non-issue. Glad I got your attention on the title, though! Speedo Gonzales--I love it! Glad you got your boxers and your voice back. Good to see you this evening.
Victoria Lynn...This hub made me laugh, because of the images that go through one's mind, picturing a group of women marching in unison, showing off their panty-lines!! I wonder who it was and WHY "panty-lines" became an issue...don't you? Like we women don't have ENOUGH to concern ourselves with!! It must have been a MAN since we can safely assume they spend the most time checking out the female body ...Panty lines? Not so bad, but what IS ugly as heck, are the outer pants that are SO tight, they go right up into the crack!!! Oh, YUK! Now that's a sad sight!! lol
I agree, effer, I don't know why it's such an issue. Probably started by men! Yes, tight pants are worse, pants or leggings that show every nook and cranny of the female body. Yuck. So ugly. Guess it's all in the eye of the beholder??? Thanks for the great comments!
I don't have an issue with panty lines because I don't think I have a really nice and firm butt to attract any attention to that area LOL!
I hear ya, lady rain. I don't think anybody should or would look there, anyway. haha. Thanks for that comments!
Victoria, here in the UK the young (around 16 - 23) not only embrace panty lines, they let it all hang out. It’s fashionable to wear your trousers slung so low that panties - and boxer shorts for the guys - are revealed over the top of trousers, or sometimes through holes. (I often wonder how the trousers don’t fall down they are so low.) And, as Jeannieinabottle also mentioned, if you are really fashionable you show off your bra as well.
So panty lines barely get a look in with all those panties and boxer shorts to catch the eye instead.
I agree that it's better to see panty lines and know that people are wearing underwear than to not have any lines. I also agree that thongs are very uncomfortable and could never wear them on a daily basis.
Melovy--I don't see a bunch of low-hanging pants on the females here since skinny jeans are all the rage. But, yes, on the guys' boxers showing. Yeah, so in that case, panty lines are a non-issue! Thanks for the perspective. Interesting!
Thanks for reading and commenting, randomcreative. Good to see you again!
I'd seen commercials decades ago about panty lines, and hadn't really noticed until then. There are messages we hear in commercials that we absorb without thinking about it. (I wrote a hub about a car commercial with a message that we should always be prepared with the biggest car). I don't think seeing panty lines is a bad thing unless it is really obvious. But I do always wear jeans or try to wear thick pants so I don't have that problem.
Millionaire Tips--interesting observation about commercials. I'm sure there are many more examples out there like the one you mention. Yeah, panty lines aren't so bad in moderation--haha. Anything taken too far--or too obvious in this case--can be a problem or issue! Thanks for the comments!
Panty Lines or no Panty line, don't much matter to Vincent as he is a Butt man and knows what hides between those lines. LoL...Gotta love this hub though, I never thought it was such a big deal, but I guess it is to all you ladies out there. I can just see Epi in a speedo to running along his Lake Erie private beach:-)
haha,Vincent. I love your comments. Yes, ladies I'm sure worry about the ole panty lines moreso than the men do. Epi in a speedo along the Lake Erie beach! You're too funny. What a vision! :-)
I have always tried to avoid panty lines, it just means I have to wear a longer top or less tight fitting pants. Just me. And I don't like my bra straps to show either.
homesteadbound--I try to avoid pantylines if they're too obvious. But other times, I just think, "Oh, well!" haha. I hide those bra straps, though. Thanks for the comments!
Hi Victoria,
You have pointed out a good concern. Your hub was enlightening, did not know about those kinda strategies to avoid those lines.
I usually avoid wearing tight clothes but if i do, try to wear dark shades.
Voted up as useful.
LOL, This was a fun read. I used to worry about panty lines all the time. Then when I met my husband he informed me that men actually like panty lines. I still try to hide them though.
Haha this is a fun hub, what is a girl to do. Lol
I must admit I used to be worried about panty lines, tried thongs and found them uncomfortable. Now I have other things to worry about like a tubby tummy which kinda puts panty lines in the background.
What I do hate is seeing a guy bend over and his pants slip to show the crack, that is so unsughtly.
Thanks for the comments, Ruchira! Loose-fitting clothing does help! :-)
Susan--I didn't know men like panty lines. Good for your husband! It was a fun hub to write!
Rosemay--Yeah, the guy butt-crack thing is SO not attractive. I, too, am more worried about the belly sticking out rather than the panty lines! hey, it was a fun hub, anyway, right? :-) Thanks for the cool comments!
Tis a problem. Girl's ponder pantylines while showing bra straps when wearing T's and halters. Boy's showing underwear when wearing low hanging pants. Does leave little to question (the age old question boxers or briefs). Makes me wonder if pantylines invited the question cotton or silk and lace. Fun hub and interesting comments. Thanks for the fun read it's good to ponder once in a while.
Great comments, sweethearts! Lots to ponder--you're right. I'm glad you thought it was a fun hub, so maybe we don't have to take the issue so seriously, huh? I enjoyed reading all the different comments, too!
Maybe, if Americans concerned themselves more with panty lines than with party lines our Congress could finally pass a budget! (Preferably, like panty lines, a balanced one! ;o)
Perspycacious--that is a great comment! haha Party lines instead of panty lines. I love it!
As a man, I probably shouldn't be commenting on this at all, but I found the premise intriguing and the writing amusing. Voting this Up and Interesting.
alocsin--I think that perhaps you're the second or third man to read this hub. I'm glad you did and that you found it amusing. I appreciate it!
I liked this hub since I often wonder over these fun things myself. I agree with you that panty lines shouldn't be an issue but unfortunately it is! Every girl and women knows it and most of us try to hide panty lines. It makes me wonder though, why is it that men are supposed to show their underwear, and so much of them, and women should not! It makes no sense at all to me. And why do we go along with it! Thanks for the fun and interesting read,
Tina
thoughtforce--It's definitely a fun topic to write about. haha. Thanks for the great comments!
This funny for sure but so true. I hate thinking about it and try not to care when the truth is that it's something women have been considering for ages. I just try not to show for dresses and fancy occasions, otherwise I'd rather have VPL than whale tail! Great hub!
haha--You're so funny. VPL. Whale tale! Great comments. You gave me something to think about, Alecia!
Another man's perspective. Pantylines are sexy. There is a subset of men who adore pantylines. It gives us insight into the type of panties your wearing. We know your secret. Also, some women wear thongs to be seen-that's not a secret so its not as sexy.
Oh, Doc, another man's perspective! So interesting that you think pantylines are sexy and why....Great comments! Thanks!
Hehe, you made me think of this gal at work who wore those stretchy but boot-cut pants. She NEVER had a pantyline. So, of course, the rest of us giggled because we knew EXACTLY why. That young thing, why she didn't care if the whole world knew if she was wearing a thong. But, as I write this, I'm thinking, well you're danged if you do and danged if you don't. I always wore baggier pants...I always felt too self-conscious in anything else. But...then...I discovered leggings...and seamless undies...and...talking about underwear...I'm starting to blush. I can't go on. HEHE. *blush*
CC--You are funny! Yep, I'm thinking we can't win with it, so we might as well just do what we want to do, huh????:-)

Good point. People at least know you're wearing undies if you show a panty line. I would love to adopt your attitude. I cant get with it though. I have to admit, I don't like the panty line. Do I wear my jeans to tight I wonder? lol
