Stop the World - A Poem about Giving Up
Stop the World
Stop the world--let me off--
trite, overused, but true.
Stop this madness, ever lost--
I've had enough; I'm through.
Shake it off, this world of pain,
Heartless, wounds can't mend.
Shake it off, hands that grip,
No mercy till bitter end.
Wipe it away, the sea of tears,
the ache, the piercings deep.
Wipe it away, the fruitless hopes.
Bleak memories, never weep.
End this all--never ending,
long, fast, furious pace.
End this all--let me quit alone,
and leave the human race.
