Where to Find Affordable, Stylish, Cute Maternity Clothes

Updated on April 2, 2016

Are there cute maternity clothes?

Maternity clothes have come a long way over the years in terms of style. It wasn’t too long ago that maternity clothes could be recognized just by the outdated, frumpy look that all maternity clothing seemed to follow. These days are different, with maternity clothes being made with fashion as well as comfort in mind. Designers have taken an interest in making those nine months much more attractive to the pregnant woman when she looks in her closet--and in the mirror.

JcPenney

JCPenney has lots of maternity items with the comfy underbelly stretch panel. The online store carries T-shirts and camis starting at just $8. Empire and crossover styles offer nice coverage and taste. Stylish maternity dresses range from casual spaghetti straps to dressy pleats. JCPenney has maternity shorts, capri pants, and jeans—all at reasonable prices. It looks like JCPenney may have everything the pregnant woman needs, including maternity swimwear and nursing bras, too. For a casual or professional look, JCPenney can help.

Kohls

Kohls, a store known for its continual sales and drastic reductions, is another option for good-looking maternity clothing at affordable prices. Kohls carries maternity shorts and pants, skirts and dresses, from casual to dressy. They also have some really comfortable sleepwear and robes.

For summertime, they have attractive maternity swimwear, too. Kohls has really cute maternity clothing that is appropriate for any occasion.

Wal-Mart

While Wal-Mart has discontinued selling maternity clothes in many of its stores, they do have a decent online selection. They have some really cute and cool maternity sundresses starting at just nine dollars.

It's too bad that many Wal-Marts discontinued their maternity clothing sections, as checking out the tiny section at my local Wal-Mart used to be my guilty pleasure. Every time I visited the store, I would have to go by the racks (just a couple) of cute maternity tops. No, I wasn't pregnant, but their maternity shirts and blouses were so cute--kind of a princess cut with a high waist for a slimming effect. I still get compliments on the tops I bought there over the years. I wish my local store would bring back their maternity clothes, but I can still look online!

Besides the cute tops and dresses, other items to be found online include shorts and capris for warmer weather, as well as pants and jeans for cooler weather--all at very affordable prices. Danskin Now and Planet Motherhood are Wal-Mart's popular maternity brands.

Shopping online at Wal-Mart is easy, as often you can get 97 cent shipping, or—even better—free site-to-store shipping to a local Wal-Mart store. While this retail giant may not offer quite the selection that other online stores do, they are a viable option because of their tried and true lower prices.

Target

Target boasts a stylish line of maternity clothes by designer Liz Lange. She started her own company about ten years ago when her pregnant friends complained of having nothing decent to wear. Sympathetic to them, she came up with comfortable, stylish options for them as well as for herself. Ms. Lange even designs maternity clothes for celebrities.

Target has a fitting guide to tell pregnant women when they should wear maternity clothing with no panel, the demi band to give the growing baby bump some support, the flexible foldover panel, or the 3-in-1 flex panel for optimum support. All of Target's maternity clothes come in a variety of styles and colors. Besides maternity clothes, Target carries everything baby related from baby supplies to baby room furniture. A plus for Target is that they generally have everyday prices that are affordable and reasonable.
